How It Happened!

For those who don't know us, a teensy bit of background: we met when myself and another girl were recruited by a friend to do a special show with his local rock band, which my now fiance was playing in.  We all got along really well, and we were asked to become full time members of the band.  After a couple years playing in the band together, some outside distractions disappeared and, we found ourselves spending a lot of time talking and together and quickly fell in love!

After knowing eachother for almost 4 years, being together for 2 and a half years, and living together for two years, we are engaged!

We had started discussing the possiblity of getting married, particularly considering that I am in the National Guard. Chris had told me to start looking at rings and figuring out what I wanted (as he did not want to pick out the ring I would be wearing). I had started looking online (and even stopped in the store to look at a few that had caught my eye). On July 6th, we stumbled on a fantastic deal on a new sectional sofa at a closing furniture store, and decided to go ahead and purchase it. This required asking the assistance of my sister and brother-in-law, as we needed use of a truck to pick up our new furniture. They agreed to meet us at the furniture store in a little while. In the meantime, we grabbed dinner and decided to go look at a couple of the rings I was interested in. While at the store (which was a wonderful experience, highly recommend Helzberg @ North East Mall), we found one that I just kept going back to, so Chris asked "Do you want it?" I waffled a bit, caught off guard (but of course said "yes"). He went ahead with purchasing it. In the midst of this, Andrea and Kendall are waiting for us at the furniture store, and the computer at the jewelry store crashed! A service call had to be made to complete the transaction and at this point, the texts from Andrea are reaching levels of little patience. When the purchase is finally complete, I set the ring on the counter to be put into the box, and the saleswoman asked if I wasn't going to wear it. I responded "He has to ask." We hurry to the car and drive to the furniture store. While driving, Chris takes the ring out of the box and looks at it some more, then put it away as we pulled into the parking lot (or so I thought). We park, and before I hop out of the car, Chris says "Will you do me a favor?" I, being aware that people who were doing us a favor had been waiting a long time for us, say "Yes, baby"... he follows with "Will you be mine forever?" holding the ring. Between butterflies and trembling and fanning myself am able to say "yes, of course" and he slipped the ring on my finger. I get out of the car, to Andrea yelling across the parking lot "45 MINUTES!!" I am jumping up and down waving my left hand in the air for her to see! Her response: "Congratulations... but 45 MINUTES!"

Note: my ring is "Vivian" from Helzberg Diamonds
